Following Him...In the Dominican Republic: June 2009

Greetings from the island!!! Our summer began by being blessed with two teams from our home church, Eastview Christian Church. Marty and Traci Trunk led a team of 45 people (representing 13 families) for our first-time ever "Family Mission Trip". God was so faithful to all involved and it was a very impacting time for many. At the same time, Dr. Tom DeWeert along with two of his children, Dan and Christine, led a team down to the southern part of the island, Los Bateyes, sugarcane field worker communities, to put on a medical clinic and children's ministry. They were also a huge blessing to many and here is a video of their trip...

And back stateside, a young Eastview couple, Jeremiah and Abbey, entered into a special covenant with God, Holy Matrimony and...they blessed our ministry by using centerpieces that were then donated to the ministry!!! Each table at their reception was decorated with a Love and Respect marriage book--in Spanish of course--and pictures of our ministry here in the DR. Then the Trunk team brought all those books down here for us to use in marriage ministry here. What a beautiful way to serve in an international way and increase awareness of missions at the same time!!! Thank you Jeremiah and Abbey!!!! Please join me in praying for this couple as they embark on the marriage journey

We also enjoyed a visit by Pastor Dave Calhoun and a group from his church that partners with Pastor Edward Gabriel. Dave put on Celebrate Recovery training workshops in three different communities that we are involved with here. Please pray for much fruit from these trainings.

We ended with snacks--a traditional Dominican tea that the pastor's wife made and Cherry's chocolate chip cookies...

PRAYER REQUESTS...

For our re-entry into life in the United States. May we be gentle and patient with ourselves and others.

For our family--- Pray for us all as we adjust to our new lifestyles and God's ongoing plans for us.

For Rachael and Beka as they get ready to go back to Taylor University later this month.

For more connections with our older two children, Shane and Blythe, as we are all stateside now!!

For Dave---as he adjusts to his new work, that he allow God to lead him day by day.

For Cherry's mother---She will be living with us here in Bloomington this fall. May we care for her well and be a blessing to each other.

For all the seeds that were planted in the DR and in our hearts--may they grow and become strong in God's Kingdom.

MY LORD GOD, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it. Therefore will I trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone.
